A cross-city transfer should agree the handover and receiving conditions in advance. Writing "responsible during transport" after the damage occurs cannot explain who held custody during temporary parking, vehicle changes and the wait at the receiving warehouse.

Build the Handover Plan around the Physical Vehicle

The VIN, keys, accessories and existing damage of a Wuling Yangguang passenger version move with the handover list. Departure time, receiving time and the matters each party reserved are registered separately; the invoice date does not replace the moment the vehicle was physically handed over.

Custody period Recorded action Handling a new situation
Handover from the original warehouse Condition check and sign-off Note unidentified damage first
Mid-route handoffs Vehicle change, person change or temporary storage records Obtain authorization and continue the handover
Receiving at the new warehouse Count and receive, difference statement Notify the parties and preserve evidence

The transfer plan can list the handover location, the intended receiving person and the possible handoff arrangements, with each party confirming the scope it takes on. Existing vehicle problems are marked separately in the departure material so the receiver knows what to check carefully. Locations that cannot be viewed record their limitation; the vehicle is not pre-signed as free of any anomaly.

Keys, accessories and vehicle documents are recommended to be registered against the physical items by the handing person, with the receiving party checking against the same list. When the transport organizer changes an arrangement, notify the responsible person first and confirm who takes over. The handover subject, the actual scope and the open items are all stated clearly, and the handover owner is asked to confirm receipt; brief chat messages are additionally kept.

Distinguish the Purposes of the Contracts

ICC rules explain delivery, costs and risk in international sales; they alone cannot decide responsibility for this domestic transfer. For domestic transfers after an international purchase, review the sale contract and the actual transport, storage and insurance documents separately; do not automatically extend the original purchase terms to the new custody period.

Temporary storage en route can keep the actual arrival, handover and custodian information; when the state changes, record the finding. If the handoff person is not authorized to sign, coordinate with an authorized person rather than letting the driver sign for the yard owner. Items not fully received stay pending verification and pass to the next link.

For damage or missing items, first separate the safety actions that must be taken immediately from the later liability investigation, and keep the authorization and supporting material for each. Contract clauses in the transport, storage and sale documents that raise questions are explained by the responsible person; the original purchase trade terms are not directly treated as the conclusion for every subsequent handoff.

When No One Confirms Receiving during the Wait at the Warehouse

Example only; the contract and the physical vehicle prevail. A given VIN has arrived near the new warehouse, but the arranged receiving person cannot process it for the moment. The transport organizer can contact both parties' owners to confirm temporary parking and custody arrangements, and record the vehicle state and where the keys are. Physical arrival alone does not end the original custody record.

At the formal receiving, check again the movements and newly found problems during the wait, and complete the sign-off according to who actually took part. If the parties dispute the custody period, each side keeps its statement and coordination continues. The basis for advancing costs is recorded separately; making a payment is not rewritten as unconditional acceptance of liability for the loss.

FAQ

Does the vehicle reaching the gate count as receiving?

Check against the agreement and the actual sign-off; geographic arrival does not replace receiving confirmation.

Does an overnight stop need to be recorded?

Yes. State the location, the custodian and the vehicle state.

What if the receiving person has no authority to sign?

Contact an authorized person; do not sign on their behalf or fabricate a confirmation.

Does whoever pays the repair first bear responsibility?

Not equivalent. The advance cost arrangement and the final responsibility are determined separately.

When arranging a cross-city transfer, state the handover locations, the transport scope and the receiving responsible person, via the Starvia contact page or WhatsApp.
