In-vehicle documents can be tied to payment milestones, but each milestone must correspond to objective evidence. The contract should specify the required arrival photos, PDI work orders, software status, customer receipt checklists, and reviewer; release the corresponding payment only after the evidence passes review. Simply splitting payment into installments without evidentiary conditions still will not prevent transport-status or configuration issues from spilling over when vehicles are handed directly to customers after arriving at the dealership. Safety-related exceptions must be closed before retail delivery.
