For each exported Chinese vehicle, buyers should retain the following inspection records for compliance, resale, and after-sales support:
- Pre-shipment inspection report: If a third-party agency like SGS or BV was used, keep the full report including photos of the vehicle, VIN, odometer, and any damage notes.
- VIN inspection photo: A clear image of the VIN plate affixed to the vehicle for identification purposes.
- Condition report by the exporter: Many exporters provide a condition form detailing exterior, interior, and mechanical checks.
- Service history (for used cars): Any available maintenance records from the previous owner.
- Battery health report (for EVs): For electric vehicles, a report on battery state of health (SoH) if the exporter provides it.
- Shipping inspection checklist: If the port or carrier performs a pre-loading inspection, keep that document.
Starvia Automotive supports buyers by coordinating SGS or BV inspections and providing all relevant documentation. We also share inspection photos and VIN confirmation as standard. These records are invaluable when registering the vehicle overseas or claiming warranty. For more on inspection options, see our certifications page and used cars page. Keep digital and physical copies for at least three years.
