Before the first Chinese car shipment arrives, GCC dealers should prepare the following local documents to ensure smooth customs clearance and registration:
- Import license or commercial registration: Valid proof that your company is authorized to import vehicles. This is typically part of your commercial register (CR) in Saudi Arabia or trade license in UAE.
- Customs clearance power of attorney: A formal authorization for your clearance agent to process the shipment.
- Proof of payment and bank documents: Including SWIFT copies, invoice from the exporter, and any Letter of Credit documents if used.
- Vehicle-specific documents: The exporter will provide Bill of Lading, commercial invoice, packing list, Certificate of Origin, and sometimes a certificate of conformity. Ensure these match your local import requirements (e.g., SASO in Saudi Arabia, ESMA in UAE).
- Pre-arrival registration: Some GCC countries require advance notification or registration of imported vehicles through their customs portals.
